Heritage Museums & Gardens

What began as a personal collection of antique automobiles has grown into a museum collection of 18,000 items. Mr. and Mrs. J.K. Lilly III dreamed of sharing their collections with the public, and opened Heritage Museums & Gardens in 1969. Today the collection still features those automobiles (on view in the J.K. Lilly III Automobile Gallery), as well as American folk art, fine art, militaria, Native American artifacts, and an operating 1908 Looff carousel.

Founded in 2014 in Newport, Rhode Island with a mission of “Preserving, Celebrating & Sharing Automotive History,” the Audrain Automobile Museum connects and engages with other local non-profits and the greater Aquidneck Island community.

Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History

The Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History is known for its local history research facilities, its comprehensive program of changing exhibitions, its diverse educational offerings, and it’s wide ranging collections illuminating the history of the Connecticut River Valley. A highlight is The Automobile Collection, which includes an 1899 Knox, a 1901 Crestmobile, a 1925 Rolls-Royce roadster, and a 1928 Rolls-Royce roadster.

New England Racing Museum - New Hampshire

New England Racing Museum

The museum is 10,000 square feet with race cars and motorcycles from all disciplines, all with a New England background, on display. This museum is all about New England motorsports. Race win, championship trophies and driver helmets are on display. When you visit the museum, you’ll see stunning photography and unique New England racing artifacts. There’s even a wonderful Soap Box Derby display, slot car track and iRacing Simulator.

Larz and Isabel Anderson began their love affair with the automobile before the turn of the century. From 1899 to 1948 the Andersons purchased at least thirty-two new motorcars, in addition to numerous carriages, thus creating “America’s Oldest Car Collection”.

The Larz Anderson Auto Museum is located in the Anderson Carriage House on the grounds of Larz Anderson Park in Brookline, Massachusetts and is the oldest collection of motorcars in the United States.
